Hi, folks. Wish I didn't have to bother everyone with this question, but I'm wondering if this engine would drop right into a 70 Mav or if I'd need to do a lot of customization. I also wonder about the rest of the drive train, because I need to find not only a 302 and tranny for my Mav but also suspension, brakes, etc.

Apparently this is a 302 from a Thunder Bird of an unknown year, installed in an 86 Mercury Capri:

Any help would be most appreciated, as I'm going to be in the area of this car tomorrow. My 10 year nightmare project is finally being put back together (photo attached) and unfortunately I now live in another part of the country, so I'm struggling to get this mobile so I can get it moved to where I now live.

The engine itself will fit like any other 302 using Maverick mounts. I'm not sure but I don't thing the power steering pump will fit using that bracket. The rear end will have to be modified to fit a Maverick. Nothing from the suspension will fit. That's a lot of money for just an engine

Except for the F-Inj models and '91-'93 HO, no T-Bird had a 302 that was really much different than what was used in a Maverick... That Capri looks nice and really aren't that common... Before I'd rape it of it's parts, I'd be selling a Maverick and enjoy a already complete car...

That Capri is way too nice to ruin, plus none of the suspension or brakes would work or be worth using on your Maverick. 302's aren't that hard to find.

Thanks for all the advice on that. I thought there might be a chance that I could use more of it to make it worthwhile. I wouldn't be in such a hurry to find something, or as likely to rip apart a perfectly good car for parts, if I wasn't on such a tight timeline every time I am visiting here. I can't get this damn thing shipped home unless it's in running condition, and I've got no way to transport it myself.

I'm very happy with the paint. I chose the new Mustang's "Kona Blue"...

Walkaround before I started the reassembly...

It's in Nova Scotia with me now. I grew up here but now live in Ontario. I'm heading back in a couple of days and it looks like I probably won't be ready to drop the engine in so I'll have to come back again to finish the job. Ran into a bunch of unexpected complications (pretty much every single part), the latest being that I don't have a key for the steering column that I'm installing. No time to pull the steering wheel before I fly out.
