so i got up today and went and got my new ball joints...which cost a arm and a leg, come home put the maverick together, drove it adjusted the front end, drove it some more now the front brakes are sticking and i dont know why....... so i deside to change master cylinder from the comet to the maverick... then i found out that the 74 master cylinder is different from the 72(whick i didnt get changed yet) so would that make the brakes stick and ps the drums would stick every now and then
eveything is n good shape new looking rubber lines new pads, ect. well im changing mast cylinder and looks like pupornal valve to or how ever u spell it.... the comet drove good and drakes worked fine on it so i guess ill keep switching every thing out intell i find whats wrong with it
I have had the piston on the caliper stick.....took it apart..it had rust on half of it....the caliper looked like new on the outside......
the car they come off of drove fine when i drove it home im not sure yet i have bleed the dang things like 10 times
forcing a brake caliper piston in during service can make it act like a 1 way valve if the inner seal is rolled. The first time you press the brakes the caliper piston will get stuck. Been there, done that, on a fairly new truck.
i never had the piston apart.. i just took the caliper off the spindle...and the brakes stick one min and them the dont but most the drivers side is the one sticking
You dont have to take the caliper apart to have this happen, just compressing the piston back in when changing pads. When it has happened to me it has been stuck without returning, not to say its impossible to have it stick intermittently. Id say for sure if it is just one brake caliper locking up then I'd blame it or the hose on that wheel.
well at first it was one wheel, but both of them are sticking, but the drives side is sticking worst than the passenger side is.. the brake hoses look pretty new to me as of right now im going to keep taking parts off the doner car....i changed the way the brake lines where set up up because i thought they might have be kinked but still no differents
just a nuff to get them back on and i just pressed them with my hand i didnt have the brake hose on at the time because i had to put the spindle on and figured i could remove a lil weight
