Hello! Haven't posted in a while! Just wanted to give an update, I got the Comet running and sounding fierce. It's amazing to take a car that doesn't run to driving it over a hundred! I love my comet and it's made me very happy. I do have a question. I have a friend and he is telling me the money I am putting into this car is a waste of time. He says the value is junk. Is that true? Either way I love this car and look forward to working on it more! :dancing::bananaman:cool:

Now to get it to pass smog :0

Ehh, he's kinda right. To an extent at least. Money put into this car DEFINITELY won't return 100% if you decide to sell it, and it's certainly less so than say a comparable year-d Nova, Chally, etc. Since it's not considered a collectors car. (though plenty of members here probably count as collectors) but I say have fun with it! The value isn't exactly deplorable, and the longer you keep it in good condition, the more valuable it is. No matter what kind of domestic car it is from the 60-70s, more are being crushed every day :(

"There will always be more money" is my take on things in life.

Actually Moneymaker 1 he has a love for Fords. He was explaining to me that a Ford Maverick Grabbers are extremely valuable. I also bought a car that needs a lot of love and a lot of work. It is unfortunate that the previous owners didn't take care of it. I intend to make it the best it can be!:):thumbs2:

Thanks Angryeyes! That's my understanding, plus this car has been left unkept for a long time so it's going to take a lot of time, money, and work to get it right. I love it though.:dancing:

If you like it does it matter what they think? But as far as an investment maybe not the best car for ya.

It is probably best to comprehend the fact that the $$$ you are investing won't be returned, so in that regard plan on keeping it.

However, power to weight ratio won't be found in most cars today. So, you have a platform loaded with potential - depending on how far you want to take it.

When I am done with my current build, the money I'll have into it could have been spent on a brand-new vehicle, albeit not a performance type. That isn't my goal and I'm content with what I'll have when it is completed.

    Good luck!

I've got probably $12K in a '88 T-Bird(paid $1215) and close to $10K in my Comet, think I'm ever gonna see a return???

I've owned the T-Bird since 1997 and have had a blast with it, doesn't owe me a dime...

By the time I am done with my build... lets just say I would be able to put a hefty down payment down on a house. I am not looking to sell the car, so I have no expectations to get $ out of it. If I ever do sell it, it will be yearrssss from now and wouldnt surprise me if I got some decent money out of it.

You say that you love your Comet and it has made you very happy. That alone should make what you have done worthwhile.
The only guys that I see making money flipping cars are the drama queens on TV.

Just have fun with it. AS far as an investment goes good luck. Doesn't matter if its a Comet or a mustang. In this marketplace its really hard to put money into a car and get it back. IF your looking for return on your dollar a car isn't where Id put my money being an average Joe. Unless your a high roller flipping cars this hobby isn't about making money. Have fun man!!!
