I am in the middle of building a custom spoiler for the rear of our cars. I would like these to be interchangeable with the factory grabber rear spoiler. To do so I need the measurements of the factory holes on the trunk lid, I think there are four that need to be drilled. Mainly just the measurements from side to side or from center out. I dont have a grabber spoiler or trunk or else I would not be asking. I will be selling these spoilers after I finish the prototype on my car.
It is a goofy spacing. So it matches the trunk framework. From the end, the 1st hole on center is 8 1/2" - the 2nd hole is 18 1/8" This holds true from either end. The distance in the center section, between the 2 sides of 2 holes, is 18 3/8" --- in other words it looks something like this across the spoiler - hope this helps ...... The 1" holes go thru both the outer layer sheetmetal and the trunk lid frame at a 45 degree angle right?
Holes are at an angle, yes, but like Craig said, goes through those factory openings. Do you have a factory spoiler to look at? The mounting lugs are offset from the center of the spoiler. Hard to explain or measure - it would help if you had one in your hands to look at. Maybe someone can post a picture of the inside of the spoiler ............
I have seen a few decklids that don't have the holes or open area for the inner 2 mounting holes in the inner frame, but I think these were 70s since that is what I have had the most of.
Correct, my maverick is a 70 and there are no holes in the inner frame for the center bolt holes. From what I can find on forums is that the bolt holes are not exactly in the middle of the radius, more like a 1/4 inch downward toward the rear bumper, right?

There is something else, and it is one of the reasons I said it would help if you had a spoiler to look at. There are a couple of unique bends and bows to these things so it sits on the car correctly. The bottom edge is arched and the full spoiler is also curved towards the rear. It is not just a straight piece of v-shaped fiberglass. Hope this helps ............
This is my original 1970 trunk lid that did not come from the factory with a Grabber spoiler - I had a badly rusted Grabber trunk lid to copy from and transferred the hole measurements over to the non-Grabber trunk - I used a 1 inch hole saw to make the 4 holes - I then cut the 2 underside center rectangular access holes to match the stock Grabber lid
Those pics helped tremendously, thanks! I figure you guys are wondering what the spoiler is going to look like. It is similar to the grabber but about 2 inches taller. Many people think it is a camaro cause I have no emblems on it right now.
