I have a 1972 Comet that needs a windshield. I have not been able to find one and I'm curious if any other vehicle uses the same windshield as the Comet. Maverick probably does, but is there any other vehicle? Or does anyone know of a place that makes reproductions?
Any glass place can get a new windshield - just specify Maverick. You will also need the gasket which is still being produced too. There are no other cars listed in Hollander that would cross over.
One from a mav or comet are the only ones that will fit. I think you can get a new one from a glass company like safelite.
Also, if you call a glass company and they tell you they cannot get it or it is unavailable... tell them when searching their computer to search for Maverick and not Mavrick ...(spell it for them)
Here - run these guys with your zip code - and they do list both Maverick and Comet http://www.autoglass.net/
........... you guys............. I looked into that 69-70 Mustang rumor awhile back when it came up. There are 2 windshields for Mustangs - hardtop /convertible and fastback - neither one is the same as a Maverick. Mustang uses W739 and W738 Maverick uses W727 or W771 Did you know the W727 (70-71) Maverick windshield is 1/32" thicker than the later W771 (72-77) ? You can really feel the difference between the 2 when you have them side by side.
I have had a new one sitting here for a couple of years and it does seem thin.. I put the seal on it once and it seemed kinda loose.
I just ran a quote for a 1972 here with Safelite - $318 installed - in stock and ready to go Maybe a regional thing when they told you no for the older cars ......
