I have read about a couple of people using the i6 250 frame mounts to drop in a 351w. I have questions though because no one posted picture of doing this. so I have the frame mounts flipped like they mention. I put the pass side on the drivers side and vise versa. originally the frame mounts come off the frame horns and go towards the front of the car. but in order to flip them it seems they have to come off the back of the horns and go towards the back of the car. now I have no tried to put my motor in yet because its not ready, bu t after some rough measurements, it does not look like its going to work without my motor being into the firewall. can anyone help me out please? also why cant I send anyone a PM. it keeps saying I need to fill out the subject and message section, which im doing. here is the thread that people talking about doing it this way. can someone PLEASE send "351 celi" a PM for me and tell him to look here. he is the the only one from that thread that is still active. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=75810&page=2 thank you
I`m not really sure but,I believe the I6 frame mounts are entirely different on the body than the v8s.The motor mount on the 6s is nothing like the v8s.My 70 drag car hes v8 body mounts & 302 motor mounts on it w/ notched towers, works fine.(351w)
You might check with Joe Dirt http://mmb.maverick.to/member.php?u=10397 I believe he did this on his prior Mav when he installed the 302.
I have alerted Stefan to take a look at your account and the PM problem. You might try clearing your cache and history - that often solves issues with the forum.
I had the exact same result when I tried this approach on my 73'. My motor is assembled and when I tried to set it into place I found that block is resting against the firewall and there is absolutely no room for the bell housing. I am searching for the correct frame mounts.
Educate me? I moved the driver side mount to the passenger side and vise versa. This meant locating them to the back of the tower instead of the front where they had been. Maybe I have the wrong motor mounts? I bought for 1975 F100 w/302.
they still bolt to the front of the subframe and face rearwards there is a small web that has to be removed from the frame mounts to do this.
OK. That clears a few things up. We considered that but I didn't remember reading anything about grinding or modifying. I was concerned about removing that much material from a cast bracket. Thanks for clearing that up.
Sorry, just saw your message, but Joe Dirt is correct. I just swapped my mounts out for a full maverick set-up because I had the engine out anyway. This does work once you trim the webbing. It causes the engine and tranny to sit about an inch further back than with maverick frame and motor mounts, so you may have to tweak your tranny crossmember.
Yes, you are right with C4, no shifting of position, but with a T5 and fabricated crossmember, it may have to be modified.
