YES!!!!! As you can see, the blue mav was the first one i did, I like the second mav better, the struts are further back out of the way and they raise the hood an additional 4 inches, so you dont hit your head on the hood latch, ouch!!! hood_strut_maverick_008_original.jpg mav_hood_supports_001_967632_original.jpg mav_hood_supports_008_original.jpg hood_strut_maverick_010_original.jpg mav_1_007_original.jpg

Looks good 55crown vic, now, what vehicle did the struts you used come from? Are they hood or hatch?
The pictures seem to show you first mounted the upper end to the stock hinge then welded a bracket on to the hinge and changed the mounting location. Is that correct and what did you gain in doing so?

You are correct, Bill. That was a trial fit, but soon realised I wanted the hood to be raised higher, so I added about an inch and a half to the hinge and remounted the strut. The struts are from a 2000 Crown vic/mercury grand marquis, hood struts.

I like the looks of the strut's a lot better than the rod in the center of
the hood:yup: and in the way when you have to work on the engine(y)

I pulled the set off my 04 Dodge ram and threw them into the trunk of my mav. But I intended to use them on the trunk. Just using the strongest one and only on one side.

But now that I see them on the hood...:hmmm:

I like the way they sit on the blue mav.. on the inside lip of the hood but I dont want them to be that long!! how long are those? I have a set of 15"s, I would like them to be at least a foot back, rather than were you have them.. just seems like your worse off than the prop.... thank's. good idea though

that's why the redesign, a little further back and more out of the way. I like the latest version better(on the hinge) They are very easy to release if needed.

could you take another pic closer up on the blue one I would like to see how you actually attached it to the hood and the inside.
