Hello I got some long tube headers from summit they said will fit on the 74 4 door maverick with power steering. the headers fit ok with a little bending of the tubes but I am still having problems with the shift linkage and power staring. The headers I got were the summit brand of hooker. is there a better header out there? Doesn't matter if its a shorty or long tube. I just want to finish my build at this point. THANKS!

you need a drop down bracket for the power steering ram and you need to get creative to use the column shifter. most people put in an aftermarket floor shifter. some people have figured out a way to use a shifter cable on the column to work. im sure some searching on here will show how to do it

Hi, we put long tube Headers on my 4 door 74. I had to remove the column shift linkage, no other way, and put in a floor shift. I put in a star shifter from B&M. You can get by without bending anything by lifting the engine to bolt the passenger side on. Make sure your starter is in good shape, because you will have to lift the engine and un bolt the header to change it further down the road.
