If I had the room I would have bought them a long time ago and even though I'm not a fan of Comet's, I would have kept the Comet and parted out the Grabber. The Comet is definitely in better condition.

I've seen those cars for 10 years now. It's going to be weird with them gone.

I think I can get titles for them without paying the back registration. There's a loophole in the CA vehicle code for classic cars. I've never tried to use it, but have heard that it works. I'm sure it will take some arm twisting, talking to DMV supervisors, etc...we'll see. Just have to hope there are no liens on the cars and that they were never reported stolen, because then all bets are off.

Yeah, I imagine they were sitting there for at least 10 years. Do you live up in Diamond Springs?

Not by choice, I had to borrow one of the wheels off the Comet to swap out one of the flat tires on the Mav when I pushed it into the garage lol.

Anymore pics of the Grabber on the left? It looks to be just like my '72, Bright Lime with bright green stripes.

Well, I decided to part out the new Grabber. It's just too rough to try and save. It's time has come and gone, many moons ago, and parts of it will live on in other cars. Many of the parts will be going on the Comet including engine, transmission, factory A/C, dashpad, rear spoiler, windshield, etc. The rest will go into my stock or sold off to others who can use the parts to build their cars.

As far as the Comet, I made the trip down to DMV yesterday to try and get a title for it and jumped through so many hoops I was dizzy. I filled out an application for title, application for duplicate title, (2) statement of facts, bill of sale, historic vehicle application, and it still wasn't enough. The guy I bought it from needs to add a few more details to his statement of facts and I need to get the VIN verified as the DMV monkeys have the model year listed as 1977 instead of 1972 :16suspect. If I can't get a new statement of facts, I need to send a certified letter to the owner currently on the title. But, I can't have the VIN verified until I drop an engine into the Comet and it is "complete". So, the 302 out of the Grabber will be dropped into the Comet for VIN verification purposes. Stay tuned, it's Monster Garage time (y).

I hate when the "brains" (someone in power's relatives) at the DMV get way too involved :hmmm:
