Good to see these saved and put into an enthusiasts garage.
Big fan of the Comet, I always liked the 2 tone, hood scoop, and vibe they put off.

Here's a pic of the Grabber in its current state. Have just about everything cut off of it that I wanted to save. Next stop, scrap yard. RIP Maverick Grabber, hated to do it to you, but you were just too far gone.

Probably will be at least a few weeks. I need to go through all of my parts that I've accumulated over the years plus the ones from the Grabber teardown and decide what I want to keep. I'll probably end up keeping some spares too as parts aren't getting any cheaper or easier to find.

Got a Marti report on my Comet today...turns out that it is indeed a GT. Pretty awesome factory car, only other option that I would have wanted would be A/C.

Nice!! Never heard of the 'Cross Country Ride Package' before. I would think that would be a pretty rare option.

Ha! My gut told me it was a GT. That is very cool! I liked it from the first time I saw it.

I'm curious about that "Cross Country Ride Package" too!

I took the liberty of adding the VIN and "Comet GT" designation to out VIN List HERE.

According to an entry on Wikipedia for the Cyclone/Montego, the Cross Country Ride Package for 1972 included the following for $16.41:

    Cross Country Suspension Package:
    Heavy Duty Shock Absorbers
Increased Front and Rear Spring Rates
    Ride Height Increased 1/2 Inch
It basically sounds like Mercury's poetic way of saying "Heavy Duty Suspension".
