Carb problems

    Okay so here's the problem I'm having, I have the old intake manifold and two barbell carb off the maverick and then I realized that on my summit street and strip 600cfm carb the mechanism on the side that opens and closes the throttle is on the wrong side...did summit send me the wrong one or is there a way around this? Please help I don't know if I need to go buy a new carb or not.

    is the carb on backwards? sounds like it.

    The installation instructions are right there on the link you provided including a picture that shows "front of engine". You will need to run your fuel line feed to the passenger side. Installation is pretty straightforward, be sure to keep things clean and linkage free (no binding). Let us know how you make out.

    Okay so I now know I'm an idiot and shouldn't post when I'm dead a**s tired, so here's an actual question, where did you guys connect the positive cable for the electric choke?

    Connect it to the original wire for the choke.

    But it's manual? Or am I totally off on that?

    If the new carb is manual, you just need to terminate the old connector. I like to use liquid electrical tape so that I don't have to cut off the old connector. I just dip the connector and swirl it around, tends to come out with all the conductive parts covered nicely.

    If the new carb has electric choke and your old one was mechanical you will need to run a new hot wire. This positive wire should be fused protected and needs to go to a good 12 volt ignition activated source. Mine runs through the fire wall and is tapped into my voltmeter circuit coming off the fuse box. The ground runs from the negative post on the choke to a screw on the carb such as the Secondary Diaphragm cover or similar.

    My carb is electric and I don't know where to hook it up for the 12v it needs

    Now, that's funny! But.. I think we're a dying breed in a world of remote starters and EFI though, bud.

    A very well tuned carb and ignition system don't need a choke nearly as much as some would believe and I willingly remove plates and even lop them off whenever possible. Even in the much colder climates(0* or colder).. I barely have to nurse mine at startup to get it idling away on its own. But, I do run 2 separate cold and warm weather tunes(including t-stat's) to do it more effectively.
