I may be getting my new distributor and ignition box wired up this weekend and I was wondering which spark plug wires to use. Since everything is MSD I am also going to use their wires, but not sure which ones. I am also using the MSD 6AL ignition box and the MSD Blaster 2 coil. Here is my distributor http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-8579/reviews/ I have narrowed it down to these three and think the #35399 are the ones I need but am not positive. What do you guys think? http://www.summitracing.com/search/...i?SortBy=BestKeywordMatch&SortOrder=Ascending
Those are the one's I'd go for. They also have the captured tops to match that disty too. You could call MSD's tech line to be sure.. and see what the differences may be.. but I'm guessing that the 351 wires are slightly longer than the shorter deck 302 stuff as well.
Not sure of the ones i got but they all came super long and you cut / attach your own ends to whatever length you need. they come with the crimping tool, takes some time but it's a perfect fit in the end! unless you screw it up like me. i think it was a universal kit & the ones you list look good to me..maybe ask about the universal if you want the extra work.
I agree with ESampson 100% and I make all my own wires sets now. I could never get engine specific kits to fit exactly the way I want and there's always some slack somewhere no mater how the wires are switched around. And shorter wires are always better from an energy transfer standpoint no matter how low the rated resistance. Also just noticed that disty has no vac advance pot either. Not a good choice for any street motor as you'll give up efficiency and light cruise torque. Just too many compromises without vac advance on the street. Full race?.. don't need it.. don't want it.
The universal wires. The tool that comes with it is ok, but it's much easier with a pair of ratchet crimpers
