    mods:

Holly racing 4 barrel 650 cfm carb
    Newish auto zone water pump
Brand New 3 row aluminum radiator
Stock fan set up (direct drive)
sheet metal shroud (custom one I made)
Delete of A/C compressor and hoses

    Issue:
Okay so my car had this weird bogging sensation so my friend and I went through my carb and found this tiny bug that was clogging my fuel and fixed it. Car started working fine.. the next day I randomly had this slow overheat like the vehicle instead of chillin at 190 should slowly move in increments of 5 degrees and heat up to like 230. so I get out cool it off without the radiator running it would get to 250. Not good. took out my thermostat put it in water to watch it open at 190 it did its job. now im running without the thermostat and I have the same issue. I dont believe i see any signs of a blown head gasket but im here again. No antifreeze coming out of the weep hole. Id go get fans but like i said she ran well with the same set up and i never had a problem. Im kinda out of ideas on what she may be.

That is not doing anything to help you. It needs a good shroud.

You need a real shroud, like the factory one, which directs the air thru the rad, or go to a electric fan.

Im just saying I have done nothing to the shroud and the set up hass been working fine until now. That leads me to belive there is another underlying cause. However, if the shroud is that bad and is the primary issue which electric fan shoukd I use or where should I get a shroud ?

if you use a E-fan you will not need a shroud...

Curious ............ did it actually boil over? Or was the gauge just going up? At 250 degrees it should have been spouting like a whale.

I've had overheats that really didn't get overheated - just a bad gauge or sending unit.

I guess the key to me is why was it OK before and not any longer.

Late ignition timing will cause overheat issues.
Is the "newish" water pump for a v-drive system, or the newer serpentine style that runs the opposite direction?

    Before "what"?

You definitely need the thermostat back in there.

I dont have a temp sending unit hooked up for water because I have a water gauge hooked up therefore I dont need it. My vehicle did actually spit out all over the place. And I have a v belt driven water pump. There is no issue with the actual temp gauge.
