Well, after reading all the reply's to my original post I decided to paint my engine bay semi-gloss black. I think it turned out really well. I also taped wires and started running more wire loom. Man what a difference! The wires and vacuum lines kinda disappear, it makes it look so much cleaner. I also removed the fresh air box from the front (the original duct was completely falling apart and noticed what looks like an old critter chew hole in the bottom of the plastic.) When I do my 2V conversion the original air cleaner is going to be gone anyway. Here's the before: engine.jpg [/img]
    After: image_270033_original.jpg
Now I just got to replace those ugly heater hoses with black ones!

Great job! Save the red hoses for your buddies Chevy project. :D That's what I do with stuff like that!

Just out of curiosity, what did you use to strip the engine bay to get it ready for paint?

I couldn't use a stripper because or everything in the bay but
i did get the heavy build up by wiping it down and even used carb cleaner on a rag.

Definite improvement. Did you use any kind of adhesion promoter?

No, Just good Semi-Gloss. I am going to wait and see how it holds up. I would like to eventually clear the bay out and really do the job that I want but in the mean time I wanted to see how I like the black. I think it really cleaned the engine bay up. Now I am thinking about doing the underside of the hood as well. I think black would probably look better than stained silver. It kinda gives it that muscle car look.....

It looked "better than most" to begin with, but I do like the black much better.
