I finally got round to Coating the 1970 original Tank. Red Kote was recomended by rthomas in Ga.from Oreileys, and a few wise words from Patches owner ,71gold-Frank on the forum. The tank was preped ,and dried so today was the day. let me tell you if you are working in 80 degree mid Ga weather ,you have about 15 minutes to get her done. Tape it up but you will have pressure from the fumes! The color was a red metallic that , smelled and dried like PVC glue. Good coating from 1 Qt, hope the pictures work. The tank also has Por 15 on the outside corner,it worked well.:tiphat: :ratrod:

Keep us updated on the results. I did mine with Red Kote a few years ago and have yet to put gas in it. I cleaned mine with MEK and a chain first.. It was a workout lol

Yes I used the chain in the tank and dish washing soap to clean out the petroleuim. Next I will rebuild the 1904 Holley for the 200 Engine,it ran real good for a one bbl carb. The 70 model has a fresh rebuilt gear chunk, and two new Wallmart tires. I (y)have got to get it taged and insured.

when I did my tanks, I thinned the...Red Kote tank sealer...with...acetone (1 to 4)...it ran more freely and a little more working time...:yup:
...this was a suggestion from a shop that coats tanks everyday. I get my Red Kote tank sealer from them.

Red Kote is great. Have coated many tanks with it and never had a problem.
Ditto what frank said about the 4 to 1 reduction W/acetone for expanded work time and coverage.

A couple of weeks later and I have a red color:16suspect in the glass -filter. The filter in the glass is a white color,I let it run for a while today and worked on headlights. I need some checker board body paint pictures for reference. :tiphat:

I thought about getting a car graphics place to do something like that.. But it would have to look right with my GT stripes.

Blugene, Frank Cooper -AKA patches has a carbonfiber wrap on his trunk it looks good. I am thinking about a wrap in checker board behind the front doors ,computer generated would be easy, maybe costly.

How about "ghost checkerboard" (like "ghost flames") with standard GT stripes.

Thanks CaptainComet ,the Gost checks is a great Idea ,Yes I like the Fast Freddy colored[blue -black] checker board. Checker size and lay out is a job! I work in a body shop with good painters(y) I was thinking of a Dove Gray front end ,and doors ,then black and gold checks on the quarters.
