Hey guys, I just replaced my rear right brake cylinder 2 months ago and last week I found the right pad lodged up against the drum. It appears that somehow the right cylinder head had become hyper-extended outside the caliper and forced the pad to continuously rub the drum (awful for coasting/accelerating/produced tonnnnns of heat). I replaced the caliper last week assuming a defective part but as well all figured it happened again last night. Anyone here encountered this problem before? I've come to suspect weak old brake springs :hmmm:

    I'm completely lost.

It is a push rod in the wheel cylinder that pushes the shoes out on a drum brake.

What has the right cylinder head have to do with it?

    If it's a caliper, it's a disc brake system.

Do you mean you replaced the right rear wheel cylinder and it pushed the shoes out against the drum and won't retract? If that's it, is the push rod from the wheel cylinder completely out of the cylinder?

Too much travel. Are you sure you have the right shoes and drums?

Yup, the drums are original and Les Shwab installed the pads that are on it now. Any other ideas?
