Well i finally got pulled over for my "loud muffler" (im running straight pipes haha) It was just a warning so i dont have to bring it into the police station to get it checked off. So i want to put on a muffler so they will get off my back. I looked up my state laws for exhaust here was a interesting line i picked up.
In this section, "muffler" means a device consisting of a series of chambers of baffle plates or other mechanical design for receiving exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine and which is effective in reducing noise.
Who has a recommendations for dual chamber mufflers?
Im looking at the flowmaster super 44's. So technically it meets the requirements of being a legal muffler so hopefully i wont get too much heat from the police, has anybody gotten in trouble with police with this muffler?
    thanks:)

Summit offers a Flowmaster-style muffler for about 1/3rd of the price of a Flowmaster.

    Magnaflow...

They are straight through old school, but use stainless steel packing instead of fiberglass that burned out in a few months... Have a nice mellow note, not harsh/raspy like those damned Flowmasters...

I had 40series flowmasters but they were kinda obnoxious.

Turbo muffles are like q mixture of flows and maganflows and I really like them.

If you do go for flows get them in a junkyard, there's so many cars with them. I got a mint pair for less than $40.

Turbos are completely different animals from Flowmasters. They sound good though.

magnaflows will give you the closest to the open pipe performance your used to. they also will be nice and loud when your on it but not to loud when cruising and idling.

The last thing i want to do is blow money on a pair of mufflers, have to re cut and weld my exhaust to make them fit and get another "fit it" ticket! it was actually my first day driving around with my new exhaust i made/welded/painted so its kinda a bummer. So ill probably get a turbo/quieter style muffler to be safe.

It was actually not a ticket it was a warning..so i dont have to go to the copshop to get it checked off. so im just going to keep it the way it is:thumbs2: once i get an actual ticket ill throw on a nice quieter style muffler.

It's funny, the older I get the more I want my driver to be quiet. I even have the stock exhaust on my Harley, makes it that much easier to get after it in the middle of town without drawing attention!

I agree with the statements regarding flow masters, to loud and everyone has one on their car/truck/suv/hell, you name it. They will not be going on anything I own again!

I hear bunch's of those, the Summit versions, and all those other similarly unpacked can's every year.

Hard to beat the price and they sound ok for the money(they're not quiet mufflers by any stretch) but don;t flow quite as well as the FM's. Not a big deal if you're not flowing a bunch of air and/or chasing every last pony.

How do you figure that? They are essentially the same internally.
I doubt the exhaust gases know it doesn't say "Flowmaster" on it,

They're both chambered designed so not that different. Even though they look different in cut a ways they use the same principle to cancel out sound waves.

No they aren't complete different designs.

Flowmaster (or your choice of knock-off)
