Okay, here is an odd question. I was changing the wiper blades on my 1972 Maverick yesterday, and when I walked by my 1969.5, I noticed something different. I don't know what you want to call it, but the blade arm that holds the rubber wiper blade caught my eye. It is all metal, where as the arm on 72' that I just replaced was all plastic. So, now I am wondering , so I look at my 74' and it is the same as my 72'. I then go look at the 70' Grabber, and it is the same as the 69.5'. Did they all have metal blade arms at one time, and it just so happens that both of my 70's are still original or did it change somewhere down the line? Just for clarification, I am talking about the part that the wiper blades touch themselves, and you can either by replacement wiper blades or the whole setup that includes the wiper blades. Sorry if it is clear as mud!
I've pulled metal blades off of big bumper cars before. Thats one of the things I always go for when at junkyards. If yours are plastic, they probably are aftermarket.
i go with dennis . has anyone noticed that one of the arms that mount to the car has a cover over the spring and the other one doesn't? . i put two with covers on my '73....frank...
Hey guys, thanks for clearing that up. I guess when you are dealing with cars that are 30+ years old, you don't always know when you see something different if it was changed at the factory or by a previous owner. Now for any of you who go to buy a Maverick or Comet that the owner is advertising as original, and you happen notice that it does't have the metal arms, you can get the guy to come down on his price, because it has been modified.
agreed! mustang ones will also work... very very close in length if not the same. thats what i run on one of my cars
