So i have literally gathered all the pieces required to do the disc swap on my 71 maverick and i was putting it all together but when i got to the caliper i noticed that i don't have the damn caliper brackets and im looking for any possible suggestions on what i should do? right now i have -spindles (from 77 mav) -discs (from granada) -hoses (from granada) -calipers (from granada) I am just unsure at this point how i am going to go about mounting these calipers
Thats not good... I am doing this and have the full disc brake setup from a Mav and the caliper bracket is built into the spindle...
The caliper bracket is bolted to the spindle on a Maverick http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/repair/diagrams/untitled195.gif
So is there anything I can do in this situation? Any ideas at all would be a lot of help or anyone selling them?
http://www.discbrakeswap.com/ looks like a great option and they do sell individual pieces but I'm wondering if anyone has bought or knows someone who has bought from them?
So I have two problems now, first the calliper bracket I bought rubs the rotor, and ideas why? Also after the install I noticed there was a lot of play in the rotor like if you grab it and shake it moves a little? Will this get fixed when I have fluid in the brake system or is something wrong. I'm running maverick spindles with Granada calipers and brackets
Before you mount the tire, the disk will wiggle around. The disk is held firmly by the lugnuts on the rims pinching it all together.
If the disc (rotor) is moving side to side in relation to the caliper bracket/spindle, wouldn't that be a sign that the wheel bearing is not tight enough? It shouldn't have anything to do with the wheel being installed... Maybe I missed something, but I'm sure the OP said he is using Granada Rotors, which have the bearing races in the rotor, not a slip-on style rotor...
