Boy I bet these threads get old... but anyways,

I have a '71 Maverick with a 250 and I'm gettin' real fed up with having to adjust and readjust my front shoes. So I'm looking for either a conversion kit or a list of parts I can buy at the auto parts store but I don't see the big deal in converting from 4 to 5 lug and I don't really want to lose my stock wheels but many of the conversion kits I'm looking at require a minimum wheel diameter of 15". Is it really necessary to make the switch, and is it worth it or too pricey? I feel that the price of a new set of wheels will kill my budget, but I could be wrong. Also, if I simply order a kit with the 5-lug rotors, can I just pop it on and make it work? Also, I've heard the granada pitch, but would rather have a complete set of new parts. Plus I don't live close enough to a junkyard to make that nor do I have near enough experience to find what I need and know it will be right.

ABS power brakes in Orange Ca has a complete 4 lug power brake kit and if I remember your stock wheel will fit ??????

    Web address wwwabspowerbrake.com phone #714 771 6549

I have that booster on my maverick and its work great . The booster will need a small mod. You will need to order it with 2 3/8 to 2 1/2' 'mounting studs

How can I convert my rear brakes to 5 lug? Will i be able to retain my original equipment or would it require an entire new brake setup? Since I have stock 14's, should i just do a whole car 5-lug convert and get 15's?

    Also,
Mavdog I looked at ABS and they have some nice kits. They come with 11" front and 10 & 1/2" rears, will those fit? And I called to price their complete kit and ask if the application would work but he ask if I had 8" or 9" rear bearings I think.. what does that mean? :hmmm:

It would require an entirely different rear axle.

    Nick,

I have 5 lugs 8" rear ends for $100. I have one 5 lugs with Explorer rear disc brakes for $200, if Blugene does not want it. I still have the Scarebird front disc brackets. Come over and I can show you how the Scarebirds are mounted on my 63 Ranchero. I should be home this weekend or during the week if you call first.

AFAIK you can use five lug, 14" wheels on any stock parts disc conversion from '60s & '70s...

Only if the center hub opening is the right size.

Has anyone used the CSRP kit? If so, did you run into any problems such as requiring additional parts or complications with installation?
