I was looking to buy a Maverick and ran across your forum~I have loved the Massive Maverick since the summer of 1986 when I traded my XS650 Yamaha for a 1971 that had a Grabber hood and stick shift and a Boss 302~My Father hated it till he drove it around the block~I was in the passenger seat~He fell in love with the throttle response of this very ugly looking car as it had 25 colors on the drivers side and 15 colors on the passenger side and huge dents~My Dad surprised me the next day with sponges on sticks and a quart of pon pon oil base paint yellow and claimed that the bright color will hide a multitude of sins )) I will put on some pictures of that car~I miss that car~I took it to Aurora to show my buddy~He took the car and backed up to the parking lot fence 30 feet away from me~Floored it and popped the clutch~I was looking at the bottom of the car I just got~As it wheelie standed~I couldn't believe that a car My car could do that~I was hooked~I wheelie standed that monster as much as I could in my home town~Now that I knew what it looked like from the outside~I got a lot of tickets for that and was pulled over constantly even when doing nothing wrong at all~Fast forward to 10 yrs ago~I found a Maverick at Ace Tonica~I Painted that car Wild!!!! but never got the engine in it~I had to sell it a few months ago~I will post pictures of that one as well~Now I'm looking to find another one running this time ))

I don't have any pictures of the wheelie stands I was inside the car at the time lol and the car was LITERALLY straight up and down. It would come down way too hard-I broke off more starters that way.
here's my 72 that I painted I painted this car ten yrs ago~ the flames light up like a reflector under street lights and going thru intersections the headlights of other cars would hit the flames and make them look like they were in motion moving from front to rear
I've seen that car before, it's had pictures of it posted on here. Looks pretty cool, I miss those 70's style paint jobs. (your 72)
more pics I molded a stock hood with a Maverick power bulge on the roof, that way I had more body lines to panel paint around and I also added a picture of the car posed with my ranchero aka"the purple people eater"
yeah I miss that car I had to sell it a few months ago now im looking for one to replace it. because I cant go long without one haha but once you have Maverick fever I don't have to tell you about that!
I only took three pictures of that car when I owned it summer of '86 I remember going out to my car after grabbing my dad's canon AE 1 program and didn't even know how to use it and getting these two pictures that are on here now but I can't seem to find the one picture that I did get with the hood open but I was standing pretty far back and all that you could see in that was the air cleaner. I thought I was going to have that car forever so it didn't bother me that the other pictures on the roll didn't turn out at the time.
