K so the cam kit that I ordered for my 289 was supposed to be the nostalgia 271 h kit but it came as the nostalgia 271 s I don't want my car to be solid lifted so I made a deal with my dad. I'm giving him my 66 hi po 289 with the cam kit for his 70 4v closed chamber 351 clevland. So now my car is gonna be clevland powdered. (Big difference) but apparently the crank got eaten up by clevite 77. I found a place up in Edmonton that can polish and redo the crank for 288$ which isn't bad. But I have an auto wrecker that's 10 km from me with lots of 70 modified engines. So I was wondering if a crank from a modified would work in my clevland? If so I can get a crank for 20$

No, the crank from a 351M has larger diameter journals ( the same as a 351W) and it will not fit.

Some people say the 400 m and the Cleveland have similar clearance.

Any 351C crank will work. check at your locak auto parts store for one. The 400 is also an "M" block and will not work for several reasons. You could also look into a stroker kit for the 351C and kill 2 birds with one stone.

I'm on an extremely tight budget so if you know a brand or site that has cranks for cheap let me know

If you are on a tight budget, you'd be better off finding another small block.

My original Cleveland crank needed enough work that, for the same price, I was able to purchase a SCAT stroker crank for it - of course you also need the pistons and rods so a complete boxed stroker kit would work better if you could afford it - :)

not sure about up there but down here at u pull it complete motor costs 250 bucks. look for something with lowish miles/crash damage. small block is the way to go, clevelands are boat anchors (with the advent of the stroker small blocks).

yeah i would call up your local auto parts store and see if they can get a reman crank for it. a few years ago i called up the local auto zone to see if they could get a crank for my 250. they had one there in about 3 day. i think it cost me about $150 but i don't remember for sure. i know it didn't cost more than $150. so i would check first you might be suprized.

Do you realize how much work it is to put a 351C in a Maverick? Unless you are racing it, stick with a 289/302.
