Ok, I've replaced the radiator, water pump, and all the hoses. It still wants to overheat. Not right off like the thermostat is stuck or it's low on coolant, which is not the case. It's more like a flow restriction.
Do you have a spring in the lower rad hose to keep it from collapsing while driving? I had that happen. The new hose didn`t have a spring inside so I used the spring out of the old hose
The spring from the old hoses were completely rusted to pieces, so re-using them wasn't an option, besides, the hoses haven't collapsed.
How did you determine that? Do you have a temperature gauge on it? How hot is it getting? Are you sure the thermostat is opening? Run it with the cap removed, is it flowing properly? New water pump could be weak (defective). Is there a fan shroud installed? All possibilities.....
It has me bum-fuzzled. I've tried it with the cap off and I'm getting movement of the water. Not good movement, but movement. New thermostat, 160. It opens when that temp is reached. I have a temp gauge and it takes it's time about reaching higher temps. (up to 230+ before I shut it off.) It has a manual fan and a high volume electric 14 inch fan as well. the water level is good. When it gets that hot, I check under the hood for anything including collapsed hoses. Nothing visual.
Ok, I just checked it out again and removed the radiator cap while it was cold and cranked it up and let it reach operating temp and never noticed flow. The water got hot but never moved. I'll remove the thermostat and retry.
