Yeah, I was pretty sure it was a GT when I saw the black stripes on the door jam. Somebody covered up the original bright red paint and black decal stripes with orange-red paint and painted white stripes.

Right now the plan is to keep my head above water, haha. Baby #2 for me is inbound any day now. Long term, I'm going to restomod this car back to and beyond it's original beauty. But, first I'm going to do some work on my 71 Bronco and 72 Grabber to make them good, reliable driver's that look halfway decent.

Great info, I'll have to compare the springs and shocks to the ones I pulled off the 72 V-8 Grabber I stripped down a few months ago.

I have an update on this as well. It took a few months, but I was finally able to get a title for the Comet GT. I did have to jump through a lot of hoops and it ended up taking 3 trips to DMV, an engine swap, a VIN verification, a complaint to DMV management in Sacramento, and a subsequent training session for the local DMV branch to be educated on the intricacies of the vehicle code. In the end, I didn't pay any fees whatsoever for back-registration and just got the clean title a few weeks ago. VICTORIOUS!!! :1st: For all you California guys, don't let DMV scare you. You can get all of the fees waived and can indeed get a title for classic cars even if it hasn't been registered or the title has been lost for decades. I was able to get them to waive over $600 in fees. PM me for details if you want more information on how to stick it to DMV.

I'm really glad I live in Utah if a car hasn't been registered in 10 years, not in the system, worth less than $1000, and comes up clean you can get a title for the sales tax and $5 for a title application. That's how I got a title for my falcon.

Nice score! Glad someone is making good use of them instead of rotting away in the elements.

I kind of like the wheels on the comet (I call dibs) if you decide to sell them or part out the grabber let me know. I see some parts that I could use

Thanks! Yeah, the Comet is tucked away safe and sound in my garage awaiting restomod. It should be a really nice car when it's done. The Grabber has been sliced and diced for parts. There will be some spare parts, but a lot of them will be needed to make the Comet whole again.
