How much nitrous were you running when this happened!?!

Seriously,.... sorry about your luck there. That is a pretty weird way for that to let go. Betting it had a lot of miles on it before getting rebuilt, and then a stress crack in there, maybe a long time before it was re-used. I certainly wouldn't be using that engine builder again. I doubt that they know what Magnaflux even is ....

Get a mtr from Jasper out of Evansville Ind.,they are about the best w/ a good warranty which is good anywhere in the nation if it fails.I know how you feel as I`m working on a 02 Dodge ram 2500 diesel to tow my car right now.I`ve almost done all the things I want to do to it right now but between the trk & my sons wedding on the 13 of Sept. there is no money for the Mav at the moment.:meh:

Still have not found the cap and two bolts to the broken rod. I'll turn it upside down once i'm done and look into the block. I am also going to see if I can determine if the block is my original. I found several things that look untouched, like the ground cable. The crank sensor plug also looks like it has never been off. If it's my origional block then I will be of the opinion that I did not get a rebuild like I paid for. Starting to look like he put refurbished heads and a timing set.
I also found a surprise laying in the valley. Bolt laying in valley 2014-09-03 13.54.09.jpg

By the way. At the bottom of the shop pic you can see part of a plastic tub. The new motor came in a clam shell tub. The motor was sitting on that pallet it's on inside the clam. The warehouse I picked it up at had thousands of motors in the clams and in wooden crates also. Never seen so many motors at once.

I always mark my block and heads with a letter die set. I also do this on my transmission cases...:yup:
Collin just had a 5.0 built for his Mav. he stamped his initials at the end of the block #, on the heads and the crankshaft. he pointed this out to the guy that was building the motor. he told him it's so ...when he checked the block #s to get the year he would know what the CE at the end was. (also let him know it was marked for ID purposes)...

Sounds like the place that I got my Suburban motor from. First one came in a clam shell. The second one came in a wooden crate.

I was told they only have so many "clams"...and when they are all full....they crate them.

Yeah Gene, I'm thinking you may be right. I'd almost bet that guy cleaned it up a bit on the outside, put on a different set of heads and a timing chain, and ripped you off for the cost of a rebuild job. Crooks like that never stay in business long, they get found out sooner or later. Wish I were closer, I'd give you a hand........

The first guy was supposed to rebuild it due to mileage. It dropped a valve seat and he insisted I overheated the motor. Im out of town till Sunday night so not able to do any research or work on it.

    Hey Gene:
Pull this webpage info up and look it over
    http://underthehood.mahleclevite.com/?p=246
.. This will tell you if you have a REMAN or the Original Block.. If your block was remanufactured , the bearings would more likely be UNDERSIZED ..and the bearings would be much NEWER than the model of your Truck .
This is from Dr.Bill here at CAMEO . Lemmeno what you find ..

Shouldn't the 6 or so numbers on the block match up with the VIN plate if it's the original motor?
