it sounds like the ignition switch is not working correctly. the oil pressure light circuit is simple. battery to fuese block to ignition switch to dash to oil pressure sensor to ground. only the ignition switch being bad can keep the light on unless some wires or circuits have been crossed.

Okay I ordered a new switch it will be here tomorrow and I will let you guys know if this fixes my problems, now to swap the switch I just have to drop the colum, disconnect the switch from the tumbler and swap it out right?

pretty much. the switch is right under the dash and bolts on top of the push rod from the key tumbler.

Okay hit one more speed bump my car is a 71 one but the part the parts store ordered the pigtail conector is wrong, I later found out that it's a 70 connector... one more loop the car is throwing at me and of course the parts store doesn't have it or know where to order it so I'm hunting it down, the difference is that the 71 connector is perfectly square where as the one in my car has to "humps" on either side to accommodate the larger connecting pins. Any tips on where to find this?

I have tried almost all the parts stores in Calgary and the online suppliers but this ignition switch seems to be like the Sasquatch any info or help would be much appreciated

you might want to try looking at a mustang switch for your year.
