Hi, Just joined the forum after buying my first Comet. Not new to the older car world but just never happened to own a Comet before. I always liked Mavericks and we weren't even in the market when we found this Comet but there it was sitting on a local used car lot and the more I looked at it, the more I decided I wanted it. It doesn't look bad but that's a "20 foot" paint job, i.e. it looks good from 20 feet away but it's really a cheap job and it will get repainted as soon as we can afford it. It's in pretty good shape but it will need some TLC. I've already removed some of the "stuff" the a previous owner thought was cool like a cheap plastic fake hood scoop, heavily tinted windows, and poorly applied GT stripes, etc. Here's a before shot: And after: It's a '76 and has a 250 six and auto trans. The engine has been recently rebuilt and will stay but the transmission will be going and be replaced with a three speed manual. Anyway, looking forward to gaining lots of knowledge from this group.
