How is it "bad form"?? The guy has a 4-door Maverick that he doesn't know what to do with. That was my suggestion (and it's a good one). What the heck does "form" have to do with anything?
this is just IMHO, he is a young guy who seemed to want to do something with his car.......while I am beginning to understand your dry wit and sometimes...well alot of the time, verbose candor I just felt to a young teen it could be taken as a "your car's not worth building, scrap it" type statement.....these are my words and my interpretation, regardless it's not a big deal......I was breaking your balls and think socalcomet may have been also however I can only speak for myself
'Sorry. I hope I didn't offend the O.P. I just thought he had no idea what to do with it and hadn't made any commitment to do so, but if he really wants to restore it, then more power to him.
If you notice he talks of wanting to make it into a cruiser and has his eye on a engine/trans to go in it..........you read the 1 st. line and replied without reading rest of thread first.......$10 say's I can punt Larry's testicles through the goalpost, any takers
I detect that most sought after quality "humility" from Larry, OK someone tell me whats up, things are not right, Nubiru coming finally or some other major catastrophe, lol
Well I ended up getting the 64 comet for 500$, here are some pictures. What do you guys think? Maybe its worth more than I gave it credit to.
In the long run that Comet will be worth more than that Maverick ever will be....but it might be harder to get it there.
Assuming the Maverick is fairly solid, go ahead and crusierize it(new word, I just invented) and spend some time evaluating the Comet... I can tell you this, '64 Comet 2dr sedan with the bright side window trim are fairly uncommon(also with factory 289)... If it works out, sell the Maverick and put that money in the Comet... First thing I'd do is verify the Comet is a factory 289 car, VIN will tell you that...
For a daily driver I would fix the brakes and rebuild the tranny, then purchase a set of swaybars so it handles better. I might even buy the 64 comet motor and tranny for a future swap after you've collected all the parts needed.
I havnt really looked that much for the VIN other than quickly peeking at the door, but I didnt see it. Were exactly can the VIN be located? The comet defiantly would need some work, but overall the car is there. Im still undecided as what to do.
