Anyone know if Mustang 69-73 shifter lever seal will work in my 73? I need to put seals in and see if I can get the light in the floor shifter selector dial working. If not a Mustang seal - an alternative.
I would think so if it's for a C4. be sure and check and see if your...shifter shaft...is too long... post on it somewhere.
From another Ford Mustang website... http://www.allfordmustangs.com/foru...shaft-throttle-valve-shaft-leak-solution.html
I am talking abt the OE shift lever seals (C4)tha (helps) keep heat, cold ,n exhaust from coming in the pass compartment. If I remember correctly, they are felt like material w/ split down the middle.
The split boot on top side of shifter is more for decoration than anything else, should be same as '69-'70 Stang and maybe later... There is a plastic bushing on the bottom lever that gets loose and floppy...
This is the part I am talkin about. http://www.cjponyparts.com/shifter-lever-seal-automatic-1969-1973/p/ASLS2/
I see the bushing u are talking abt. "Shift Lever Rebuild Kit". Will order them frm CJPony when I get the lever seals. Ur correct on the mostly for decoration, and, keep dirt/debris from getting in the housing.
That is it. I will tell you....the repop is not very good. Mine is holding up, but I don't drive mine very much. I have seen where they tear very easily.
It was either from there or The Paddock when they were still in business. They are all made by the same company I think.
