The factory intercooler on top of the engine is mostly a joke, receives no air unless you're going over 35-40 MPH... The knock sensor pulls timing if it detects detonation, unless you like to replace head gaskets good idea to keep it hooked up...

Not to discourage but unless you're fairly good with wiring, you're gonna think you're wrestling with a half dozen octopus once you get into those harness'... Back in '99 I swapped a 5.0 into my 2.3T Bird(now waiting on 331), wiring and retaining it's unique TC systems was the major hurdle...

Got ya. Well the car is complete so I'm gonna drive it and see where it goes. Just sucks cause I have this super light maverick and a heavy tc .....seems logical lol.

My ex Turbo Coupe with 5.0 went 12.23@112.2 spraying a 75 shot, 13.11@105.3 on motor... Weight with me 3760...

Drove it all over the place, Carlisle five times, WV a couple and western OH almost to IN... Finally beat the thrust bearing out of it(along with crank surface), still I raced it over three years with the crank walking back and forth almost .100, finally blew a head gasket so I decided it was time for fresh power...

Whats your thoughts on a 91 supercoupe drive train????
I'm still looking at options. Going to look at a 91 lx stang today with a 5.0 / t5 at a dealership for sale cheap and have a 91 supercoupe lined up as well. Got the guy with the supercoupe worked down to 1500 bucks. Complete nice looking car with no issues. automatic ( ewww ) and 194k miles on it curently, previously had the head gaskets redone.

    I'm wishy washy lol.

Well if it's had the head gaskets replaced may not be a bad deal... Never been a fan of those Birds, they are heavy & I despise any Ford 3.8...

The SC AOD is one of the strongest there is and what I used in my TC for 10 years, stock except for Trans-Go Shift Kit...

The lx was a bust or at least I thought. Odometer showed 198k miles and the car hasn't been taken care of. To me on a 5.0 that's end of days mileage or am I wrong there?
I can get the car for under a grand. 1200 with tax title tags.

Trans dealt good. Good clutch. Motor has a few dry rottted vac lines that are leaking.....when you first crank it it idles up around 2500 rpm then eventually falls to normal idle.

Definitely needs a tune up. But everything appears to work but the mileage scared me off.
