I asked him about these a few weeks ago. He told me about his school project. I may be interested, although I have more changes prior to needing these. Barry's right, you need to make some changes in the look or design-as previously mentioned. Now, don't call them C_ _-T_ _ _ _ _ from here on. Call them.....Comet-Tracs or Mav-Tracs! Seth
Let us know a price and I'll get back to you. Also please take heed to the other's warnings. You, your instructor, and you college could get into a world of trouble, I prefer the name MavTracs anyway. Give us a price. Good Luck!
I would be interested in a set if the price is right. By the way, I too am a Mech. Engineering major. I am 1 semester away from transfering TO Cal Poly SLO. This is sort of off topic, but how do you like it at Cal Poly? I am trying to get a feel for what it is like to go there before I go.
Great idea Seth!!! From here on out, they'll be called Mav-Tracs (I'm a mav guy, gotta stick with my heritage here ). I am going to do some research on patents and these will not be exact replicas of anybody else's version out there. I don't expect this to turn into a huge business because I only have a limited amount of time I can use the shops, so it probably won't be a huge deal but I won't take any chances in regards to patent lawsuits. One question for the guys who know about the different year mavs, did all years have identical rear suspensions? The reason I ask is I will be using my '71 2-door to take my measurements from.
They are all the same. The only difference is the 70 did not have staggered shocks. The cal tracks came with both front and rear shock mounts on the right side so it will cover both staggered and nonstaggered setups.
Interested. Btw: Don't even use "tracs" in the name. I remember when Auto Zone was 'Auto Shack' and Radio Shack sued them. Dave
Very true...and they are now AutoZone. It's hard to believe that Radio Shack could get control over the word "Shack" but they did win the lawsuit.
Damn lawyers, they really take the fun out of everything don't they. How about Maverick/Comet Custom Traction Bars?
o.k.! i guess the first thing you need to do is "build" a name for these things. i suggest... "M/C track grabbers" model 427 ...frank...
