I went to a guys house last night and i was looking to buy the maverick that he had for sale. Turns out it just wasn't exactly what i was looking for but he did have spindles for a cougar that he said would work on the disc brake swap is this true?

Yep, same as Fairlane, Torino, Falcon, Ranchero, Mustang, Cyclone etc...

There are differences in spindle and tie rod pin size from '69 to '70 but all from '68-'71 intermediates and '68-'73 Mustang/Cougar fit... I have '69 Torino brakes on mine...

To be sure that spindles from another Ford will fit right, it is always a good idea to get outer tie rod ends that are made for the application that the spindles originally came from.

I bought all my brake stuff from Chocostang, they specialize in '60-'70s Ford brake and steering components... You'll need to know if parts are '68-'69 or '70-'73 but they can help you determine which you have...

They have kits that includes rotors, bearings, calipers, hoses, etc

BTW the original Mav/Comet brake lines will have different size fittings for hoses and master cylinder than any disc setup you'll find, plan on some replumbing...

1969 Torino brakes on my '72... [IMG]
