Does anybody have any experience with Modern Driveline Hydraulics? Looking at the slip on slave cylinder and master cylinder kit. Any thoughts?

Sorry, I just installed a hydraulic clutch but I used a Wilwood Master from Rosehill Performance going to a Tremec 5 speed, easy to do, I drilled 4 holes and bolted it in.

Do a search here in the Tech forum on the Modern Driveline kit. I did one last spring. Everything you need to know is in that thread. It's an OK kit, but does need some improvement in stiffening the firewall. That was something they were supposedly working on since then. You do not want any flex in the firewall if you want the firewall to last. I used a ten year old McCleod hydro throw out bearing with mine. (left over from having it in a V8 Ranger)

I read that they had an external slave cylinder in the works but dont know how old that was. Is the imput the same between a topload 3 speed and the 4 speed?

You might also consider a RAM hydraulic throw out. They can be had for under $150.

The input shaft being the same depends on which Toploader 4 speed you're planning on using. The 390 specific 4 speed had the small diameter input like the small block version, but a shorter pilot snout (the part that slips into the pilot bearing) if you try to use this one with a small block bellhousing, you end up with the input unsupported, the small bells are deeper (longer) than the FE bell's made for the Stang/Fairlane these transmissions came in. The big block Toploader had a larger diameter input shaft. Make sure which one you're looking at before buying or installing one. The McCleod T/O bearing was the only choice I had when I did my V8 conversion in my Ranger, there are lower cost options now. I only used it in the Comet cause I saved it from the Ranger. External slaves aren't much of an option with a Toploader due to the external shifter linkage getting in the way.

The RAM hydraulic throw out bearing for a top loader or a WC T5 is 78136. I just bought one for my WC T5 for $136. There is a note for the top loader stating that it only fits 1-1/16-10 input shaft.

That's the small block/390 toploader input size. And a whole lot less priced than what I paid for the McCleod unit.
