i figure maybe i can chime in for a quick question on rear ends on this thread as oppose to starting a new one. I have a 75 ford maverick coupe i just wanted to make sure that it has an 8" rear end? I was told the 75s do awhile back just wanted to confirm. I plan to upgrade the gears to 3.55

It has the 8-inch rearend, but it's not a coupe. It's a sedan.

oh ok, i found a few kits online with the ring and pinion as well as installation kit for a great price. If you cant find what youre specifically lookin for try ebay. a lot of sellers are willing to put together some sort of kit that tailors to you.

The big drawback I see for the 8.8" is changing ratios. You will have to set up the ring and pinion in the rear end if you want to change. If you go to a nine inch there is a huge number of ratios available and if you want to change ratios you just slap in a spare pig. I went with a custom made Currie years ago and haven't been sorry. I have had about four different ratios in it. Good luck with whatever you do.
