Has anyone found a molded mud flap that looks good and fits our cars? I have always used the universal kind, but they don't look near as good as the ones on my Focus that are form fitting and designed for the car.

I'm not crazy about mud flaps, but it beats seeing the paint eroding off of the lower fenders and quarters from road grit, especially with wider tires.

I have seen guys put mud flaps on with the really big paper clips. When they get to the show.....the remove them. Pretty slick idea.

That is probably OK for a show car, but a touring car really needs something better. I have used them on every Maverick that both I and my dad had and they prevented the paint from becoming eroded. I'm thinking about making some out of stainless. They don't look too bad unless they are too big for the car or stick out farther than the panel. The nice thing about the molded ones is that they don't flex and flap.

I remember when there were a lot of Mavericks on the road in NE Ohio and so many of them had the same pattern of paint erosion on the fenders and quarters.

Thanks Hairy. I'm going to make some out of stainless. Hopefully, you can come to the nationals next year and see them.

I used clear truck bed coating on my s-10 and tinted it the same color as the truck no more rock chips or faded paint you have to look close to see it's there not good for a show vehicle but perfect for a hot rod or daily driver

I like the idea of the Eastwood elasti-wrap. Has anyone used it?

I've used autozone's duplicolor EZ wrap. Loads of colors, including clear. Used it on a plastic air dam, and it held tough for about 1 year before starting to peel. I just went over it with a leftover can and it looked good as new

Did you peel the old stuff off first? Does it peel off easy? Is it really clear or milky looking?

I noticed the duplicolor stuff gets a lot of bad reviews.

The clear was a matte finish, but looked great. Not milky, but like a haze, if you get my drift. My friends didn't even notice, actually they were asking me where I got my airdam finished at. I did prep the hell out of it, applied an adhesion promoter, and sprayed it with the EZ peel paint.

Peeling it off was a whole nother story. You have to put a lot of the EZ wrap on. Like 5-6 layers o make it peel off easy. I put on 2-3 coats and spent all day peeling dime sized pieces off. If I hadn't used the adhesion promoter, I think the paint would have peeled off easier. I didn't want easier, I wanted it to stay and look ok. It peeled off, that's the important part.

I just ordered a can of the Eastwood stuff. Hopefully it works good. I only need it for the lower quarters behind the back tires. I've already got some stone chips in my new paint. Damned drag radials pick up everything.
