We had a pretty good weekend at the Street Car Supernationals in Las Vegas. We were in the Outlaw 8.5 class with the itty bitty 8.5" slicks. I was able to pull off the #1 qualifier in the last round. On race day I made it through the field pretty good and had a good chance at winning the race, but I hurt the motor and was unable to race in the semi-finals. The big highlight was going 4.990 seconds in the 1/8 mile in the last qualifier. Sure seemed like lots of folks liked the ole Maverick.

Nicely done. Congrats. I'm not too familiar with 1/8 mile racing. What would your time work out to in theory for 1/4 mile?

Who wouldn't? Congrats on a stellar performance. Sorry you hurt the motor. Hope it isn't too serious.

Just an update. I hurt all the main and rod bearings and main caps were toast too. Getting a new crank, rods, and pistons. Motor will be a little bigger with the longer stroke crank, block has been "hard-blocked" (no more water from block to heads-only through the heads), compression has been increased a bit, and I finally got a new 2-speed transmission that originally came from a far inferior motor company :)
