Been having a weird cold start issue for a few months now and finally taking some time off of my Maverick to put in some work on my dads.

    Fairly stock 351w
    Edelbrock performer rpm intake
    street demon 625 carb
    duraspark ignition and long tubes.

Car previously started right up and had no issues. Seems overnight a few months ago with no changes to anything the car would struggle to start in the morning.
I have to turn it over and over to get it to start. It will bump on the way and act like it wants to start before actually staying running.
Once running it runs very weak and will die with almost any throttle input. Does this for a few seconds before it clears up and idles normally.

I've checked the plugs and they look fine. No other resounding area's of concern that I can see.
Is it possible that the carb has become clogged up partially from ethanol???

Sounds like the carb is leaking down as it sets so the is no fuel in the bowl, have to crank awhile for the pump to refill it... Is there fuel from squirtrers before you crank it???

In colder weather I have to pump the 428 at least four or five times if I'm going to get it's attention...

What is the percentage of ethanol in the gas you are using?

I had the same problem, found a piece of the rubber fuel hose right under the drivers side seat had a hole in it.

I'm not sure how much ethanol is actually in the fuel but I belive all the pumps say as much as 10%.
I do occassionally fill up with ethanol free but its so far out of the way its not happening as much as I probably should.

I'll check the line and see if there is a leak anywhere.

    Thanks

    Yeah sorry.
No leaks or dry rotting in any of the fuel lines.
Everything looks pretty normal. The 351w is pretty tired at this point anyways so who knows. I can't wait til spring when we get the 351 built and the slipping c4 in it swapped out for a pa performance trans.

a weak coil can act like this. you can check the resistance of the coil with an ohm meter and look up what its specs should be or just try a known good coil.
