Sometimes they'll come out with just some jiggling, but usually not... One in my Comet MC almost fell out... BTW a manual brake pedal sets somewhat higher than PB... The pedal on my Comet is high enough that I'd like it a bit lower(it has orig rod), but I plan on adding the small booster mentioned in another thread so won't change anything now...
Pushrod came out of my MC kinda easy. Give it a try before removing the MC. On the other hand...I seen them stuck and almost pulled the vise off the bench out by the roots
How hard do you think it would be to cut and thread the one thats there( the new one)? I did the upgrade and used the new rod when i realized it sat high i went to try to get it out and couldnt....It felt like i was going to snap the ear off the master trying to get it back out. Dont really want to get another master just so i can put my old rod into it (at least i was smart enough to keep the old one)
I will tell you what I did but DO NOT recommend it to anyone else to do, I unbolted the M/C leaving the lines in place and the rod attached to the pedal, I pulled the M/C away from the firewall enough to put a small 2X4 block of wood between it and the firewall on top and bottom, reached in and gave the pedal a sharp snatch upward towards the seat and the rod came out. I got lucky.
Thats kind of what i'm talking about -make my own - cut 1/2" out-thread both sides of cut- and use a barrel nut to adjust- just wondering if anyone has done before to save me some down time; guessing nut size; if the rod able to be reliably threaded etc.
Be sure the pushrod locks into the master cylinder...if not you could pull the pushrod out of the MC with your foot if and when the brake pedal swings back up. Or be sure you have some type of mechanical stop on the pedal when it returns up
Thats exactly what i want to make (the Scott Drake one) buying one doesnt solve it for me- i'ld still have to buy an other master- and if thats the case i'ld just reuse my old drum rod then
