Hi all and a very happy new year behind the wheel ;)

As I was below my car changing my starter I realized the boot on my Power Cylinder was gone and so the seals have been damaged hence it's licking a bit which means I'll have to change that part pronto!

It looks like it's not a hard part to reach / take out / bolts back in and then head out for a new alignment.

Am I mistaking? Is there some tricks? Hidden elements? Things I should know before engaging in removing it and replacing it?

Thanks and best wishes for 2015 again.

Thanks to rthomas771 and the original author of the article here is a link that should help. A quick search of the forum will show it along with some other tips I have been helped with lately.

Thanks, sorry for jumping the gun and asking something without even looking around for it first!
I'll read this careful and look around for related posts.
    Cheers!

Hey no probs. I'm always asking questions that are on the site somewhere. The old hands on here seem to know everywhere to look and are always willing to answer questions. You never ask you may never find your answer!

haha, true, I always say I'd rather ask a stupid question than doing something stupid by not knowing.

I looked at the link, it looks quite straight forward, the only trick is the use of a "ball joint seperator", a tool I do not have.

I might give it a try hoping I don't run into any big trouble along the way of removing it and putting the new one back in!

    Thanks.

You will be right. I learn as I go and only break at least one thing somewhere along the way:slap:.

Honestly, I love bashing things with a hammer but past experience tells me to pay a couple of bucks from any auto store will save you a ton of hassle. Even here in Australia they are cheap as. Look like a wedge, forky sort of thingy me bobbit.

ah!!! I didn't pay attention to your localisation, NSW! The place I fell in love with Muscle Cars and vintage as at 18 years old I traveled there and ended up driving a 70's Holden Monaro, which for a European kid was something out of this world hahaha

The power assist cylinder doesn't have anything to do with alignment, if you don't have steering issues it won't be necessary...

Hey Jett. If you owned a 70's Monaro now you wouldn't be too disappointed. A tad more expensive now and one of the reasons I love US cars. Not only are they more accessible financially, they are unique here. Unless of course its a Mustang. I was born in the 70s but I do remember the time when Monaros became unpopular and there were a few times I could have bought one for a good price before they went up.

Where in NSW were you? And is that Venice CA or Italy?

Ok, thanks for the heads up! Saving a few bucks already haha.

    Damn your Comet looks sweet!

The thing with vintage US cars is the possibility to still be able to finds tons of parts! I used to live in Paris France and I was driving a Mustang there, I used to order parts from the US with ease.

I now live in California (so yes, Venice CA) and I opted to stick with driving vintage but as it's my daily driver I went to a straight 6 to save on gas, I have to admit I miss the sound and feel of my V8...

In NSW I was based in Kareela south of Sidney (I traveled all around NSW, went to Alice Springs, Cairnes...) but spent most of my time in Jindabyne and Perisher Blue.

Where are you located? Is your Maverick right hand drive?

Woa, freaky. Until last year I lived in the "Shire" as you might know it and worked in Kareela Coles supermarket. Most of my mates are originally from Kareela! I grew up in Sutherland, next door basically!

That is very weird. You are on the other side of the world and I happen to answer your thread!

No, mine is going to stay a left hooker. Too many dodgy conversions out there and it costs a stack to do. Considering it will be my weekender on club plates it wouldn't be worth it. Besides, I probably won't need to overtake too many other cars which is the main reason I would do it.

My wife and I love the states. Been a few times and I have a mate I made through him selling me his Torino a few years back. He's in Lake Forest. Actually went to Venice one day having a look around. Love the coastline around that area.

damn it's a small world! Always fun to stumble upon such surprises!
I was there in 1994 and 1996 so not yesterday haha.
Driving on your side of the road from the right side of the car shifting with my left hand was something to get use to!

Yep, I worked in Coles from 1993 to late 1996. Probably served you at some stage as it seemed as though i was always there either working or socialising! Couldn't think of anyone that would live in Kareela and be bothered driving anywhere else to get their groceries!
