Has anyone heard of 351wc? I have heard it is a 351 wideblock cleveland but I am left in a state of confusion since others are telling me its a windsor. What is it, and would it fit into a maverick? If needed I will take some pictures. It is an engine that is in a 1966 ford thunderbird. Can anyone help me shed some light on this? TIA! :bananaman
No such animal. The 351W didn't come out till 69. It sounds like it may be a 351M400 which is a cleveland engine. Either way, if it's a 351 at all, you'll have lots of problems putting it in the Mav that in my opinion isn't worth the trouble. This subject has been discussed many times on this board. Most people including myself agree that you should just stick to a 302. If you want more cubes, stroke it. A close friend of mine is running a 302 stroker in a 70 Mustang...high nines in the quarter and it's a street car. Good luck
He's right, no such animal. IF the person with the '66 T-bird is telling you that motor came in the 'Bird-they are wrong. It could have been put in there, but it's not factory. 351 Windsor appeared in '69 and the Cleveland version in '70. Good luck- Seth
Yah it didnt come stock I know that for a fact.. I believe the 390 was? I was just wondering what it was... Aight thanks for the advice.
The car I learned to drive in was my Dad's '66 T-Bird. Had a 428, so yeah, they usually came with FE's in them.
Sounds like someone dumped in a 351M... "Wide Cleveland" would be a good discription of that engine, but in an oversimplified way. Incorrect... The 351c and 351w fit without major mods, but the 351m/400 would need major chassis mods to go into a Mav. Not to mention some fabrication, while the other 351s would 'bolt in' with factory parts. It said it on a sticker that was on the valve cover of the engine. I can take a picture of it tomorrow.
Looks like somebody did a transplant. It's a Windsor motor. The "C" code was available in mid- and full-size cars in the late 70's. Supposedly it's kind of a rare engine, but I don't know what makes them special. You sure it's not a '76 T-Bird?
