Hey all. What is a fair price range for a stock 302 or c4 trans in good condition? Which years 302 have best stock HP or build quality?
I just sold a C4 yesterday with the converter for $450 that was rebuilt and used very little. The fluid was bright red.
There is one out of a 77 Lincoln that has been on Craigslist here for well over a year at $350. For the best power in stock form I would find a roller cam 5.0. I picked one up out of a 94 Bronco, bought the whole truck that had been rolled for $300 and once I had parted it and scrapped it I had a couple hundred more than I paid for it in had along with the aluminum wheels and a low mileage roller cam 5.0.
Other than the mid '70s versions have a .030 taller deck height to cut compression(can be machined down), there isn't enough difference in any 2bbl version to talk about... A '68 4bbl version is somewhat desirable but mostly for a Mustang/Cougar restorer... Beginning with the '82 engines, blocks were modified for one piece rear main seal and 1985 were the first of the roller cam blocks, that's what most builders want these days... I just bought a 5.0 out of a wrecked '98 Explorer from my car lot buddy for $350...Has 101K mi, runs like new...
Heck Tom, a great deal! You got the entire engine to use now as well as the 8.8 rear end then sell what you don't need. The heads will be the GT40 heads too.
Are these 90's 5.0s a direct fit for maverick chassis and trans? Are AOD/ AODE direct fit to Mav? Would a be able to keep column shift?
I had a 93' 5.0 in my Mav. I put the mav. oilpan and early timing cover on and ...... I have ran 3 different AODs in my car also...(floor shift)
