After several different searches, I see that some people have this brand, some have that size, some have front and back... so, I NEED a new sway bar, and I understand what a sway bar does, in principal. I am curious to the effects of small differences... I have 3 main interests for "this vs that" and I would like to hear your thoughts.. 1: 7/8" vs. 11/16" vs. 1 1/8" front sway bar 2: Addco vs. PST vs. (anyone else?) 3: Front only vs. front and rear and I cant seem to find many vendors...if there is a "Forum Sponsors" section that have some good businesses, please let me know and I will look there first. For FRONT If you you want something much bigger then stock as in a 1 1/8 or 1 1/4...Carolina swaybar is the answer a one off will be chealer then the addco group buy here recently and a group uy will be cheaper yet.. only thing is youll have to send in your stock bar. On a side note, i do have a NIB PST front bar if you decide that route
I don't know the difference in "much bigger" vs. "a little bigger", but if that's the route I take, (and you have the hardware as well) I'll definitely keep you in mind. Thanks man.
Sway-bars merely maximize the current tires available contact patch at the expense of ride comfort(alters spring rate), suspension weight, range of movement, clearance, cost and complexity. Choosing the right setup is usually based on vehicle weight(and F/R bias), driving style, available tire traction, and required comfort levels. There will ALWAYS be some type of compromise which is basically why all new cars don't just come with factory installed 2" front bars in the first place. Too much trade-off and average people would quickly complain.
Don't know if this applies with anything on the street but we tried the "big bar-soft springs" thing in stock car racing back in the 90's. We didn't want to carry the heavier springs all the way around the track to be needed only through the turns so we dropped the front spring rates and went with a 1 1/4 hollow bar out of a Trans Am. A big bar along with heavy front springs would have be atrocious
I have an addco 3/4 rear I got from summit not bad definately made a diffrence but I do not like the way it is mounted and hardware It was almost impossible to get the endlinks in the bracket and the bolts were too long so they were binding so they broke shortly after installation installed some different bolts no binding no breaking but now the u bolt that goes through the frame is pulling through the frame so I will have to modify that too.
