I want to upgrade to 1-7/8 headers for the Mav. Are there any that fit pretty decent from the start? Im going to have to make some mods im sure.
    Standard, No PS car.

    Any help is appreciated.

Why 1 - 7/8ths headers? Are you running big port heads? BTW, very impressive car!

Yes, I have been running my Comet on a regular basis at three separate local tracks over the last 5 years. We are fortunate here in northeast Ohio to have five local drag strips. Four strips are 1/4 mile and one 1/8th mile. I have two more tracks to experience.

What is wrong w/ the Hooker 6208s,1 3/4 in tubes w/ a 3 in collector.A little bit of fab work & they fit,& if it`s good enough on a 408 w/ edelbrock heads in a Mav turning 9s,then they are surely good enough on an 8.2 deck.

I live just southeast of Cleveland. The tracks are Summit Raceway Park, Thompson Raceway, Quaker (City) Raceway Park, Dragway 42 and Magnolia Drag Strip. If you want to drive 3 hours we have National Trails and Pittsburgh Dragways. I'm also five miles from Summit Racing, two miles from Trick Flow manufacturing and Total Engine Airflow. That is just a partial list. It doesn't get much better than that.

Your cam is completely wrong for that tube size and I've never met a streetable 347 that can make full use of a 1 7/8 primary tube. Stepped to 1 7/8 near the secondary?.. yes. Coming off the port.. absolutely not. Once you study header designs and look at the top engine builders out there.. you'll clearly see that velocity and blow-down length will most definitely be lost.

This guy knows his stuff and many would be ahead of the game if they listen up.

I found that hedman makes a 1-3/4 stepped to 1-7/8 header. Thanks, I will look into that link.
