Difference may well be more the method bar mounts the lower control arm, the MII are nothing like the arms in the Mav... I don't see why it would not be possible to fabricate a off set/curved link to fit a Granada bar... Could be larger, solid(no sleeve), so would not flex... Each end would be machined for the bushings to fit on to...
I install it about 5 years ago no problems, alignment and clearance ok. All I had to do was heat the center to shorten distance diference. Better handling.
Heating spring steel changes the temperament. 'Not really supposed to do that. 'Sounds like it's working for you though, since you shortened it to actually fit.
I've been thinking along these lines too, but in cutting the center then welding it back together using a collar to join the ends. This used to be done with torsion bars linking 18 wheeler truck axles to the frame (a universal bar) I don't see why this can't be done here. working on the center of the bar, leaving the ends alone, afterall the ends are where the flexing occurs. I may try this with my 77 after working under it this past week changing oil and greasing it, noticing how small the sway bar is. Gotta find a Granada bar first though.
Anyone have a Granada swaybar they want to get rid of ? And just how much does an aftermarket bar for a Mav/Comet run anyway ?
Of course still No one will believe me even after posting pics of mounting my Granada sway bar upside down on my 70 Maverick and that it does fit and works.
IT DOESN'T FIT, and it's NOT supposed to be UPSIDE-DOWN. Flipping it upside-down does not make it narrower.
Rusty- Thanks for the link maverust1- Your sway bar does not appear to be installed upside down in those pics In the pic below you can see the difference in the Maverick sway bar (bottom) next to a Granada sway bar (top)
Just for fun, try it upside down. The photo shows its not tightened down yet. I know it sounds impossible to fit just by flipping it. How much will it hurt to just try it? I laid mine together too and thought Granada one was too wide. I tried heating it to bend w/torch, but no luck. I know it makes no sense, but trust me it does work.
