Anyone have any suggestions for a reliable site I can buy a starter for my 71 Mav? Among other parts as well. Having difficulty finding parts to get my car going again

I would suggest you get one locally from Advance Auto Parts or NAPA. That way....if you have a problem...you can deal with it locally. Avoid Auto Zone in my opinion.

While body, most interior, some electrical, etcs are specific to Maverick, engine and transmission are generally same as used in Fairlane, Falcon, Torino, Mustang etc...

Would be much easier to help you if at least engine and transmission types were listed...

autozone has treated me well over the years I try not to go anywhere else but then again Ive spent alot of money there and get away with alot. I do ALOT of warranty exchanges. when I have something Ive bought thats under warranty I try to find an extra old one and exchange it for a new one to have on the shelf waiting for the day that I might need it either for another car or for when mine actually breaks

I got my Autozone starter in 1992 when I first got my Maverick, and that same starter is still working great.

Problem with any auto parts rebuilt starters is it may or may not last... After dissembling a few rebuilds and noting quality, I generally stay from any of them(alts as well, mostly rebuild my own)...

I agree. Honestly, I think I really just got lucky with this starter. I even remember that it was $22.00 with a lifetime warranty. Is that nutz or what?? I don't know if I even still have the receipt after 23 years if I ever needed to replace it.

Now that's funny! I'm lucky if I can remember what happened yesterday.

Brands come and go, same name could have gone through half dozen owners, management teams etc, who knows where their parts are sourced now vs 20+ years ago... Back then we were bitchin about parts from Korea, now days it's China...

The word "rebuilt" is a misnomer. My local electrical guy told me that they only repair whatever caused the part to fail. They make it look pretty and put it in the box.
