My 72 Comet Build.....

    Looks good, Frank. I really like the matching blue on the engine parts. Any concerns about hood clearance with that intake manifold?

    Thanks, me too!!!!! Not really worried about the hood clearance with the Cowl Induction hood..... :huh:

    Not sure if it's progress or not..... But I removed the gas tank, grill, front valence, bumper/brackets, stone guard, headlight trim rings/headlights, Rocker trim, front fenders, hood hinges, upper shock brackets, outer tower braces, front wiring harness, windshield washer reservoir and a few other small things.....

    It still amazes me how clean stuff is on this car when I remove factory hardware that is barely surface rusted(although there isn't much that haven't removed after today).....

    Back at it this morning..... Got the car outside and scraped all the heavy panel deadner off the inner fenderwell area and blew all the loose crap off I could..... Then I put the car back in the shop, blocked it up and leveled it..... Got all the brake fluid sucked out, removed all the front suspension and steering.....

    Here's the areas I scraped the deadner off of.....

    Worked on the motor after work a little today..... Got the first steam port hardline made and installed.....

    Got two more of the steam port hardlines made and installed today..... Also got some Goodyear Gatorback belts for the alt this week.....

    So what's the theory on the steam lines/ports with the LS power plant? Is it purely for cooling or is it doing something else?

    Thanks.....


    The water oultets on the LS are at the top of the block, they are below the high point in the cooling system(the heads are higher)..... The steam ports allow all the air to be bleed out of the top of the heads so the engine can cool properly.....

    I keep coming back to look at the intake manifold. It is ominous.
