longer wheel studs for disk brakes

    Hey Fellas, From what I gather, no one ( ARP, Moroso etc.) makes a longer wheel stud that fits the maverick/comet/granada rotor without drilling the rotor out???

    Longer than stock... local track keeps hassling me for having welds and the stud not being long enough

    why not make that an excuse to buy better rotors with longer studs?

    Have you tried Napa? They may not have what you are looking for in stock but they have a catalog with a huge selection you can order from. My local guy had 1/2 x 20 x 3"long in stock when I was running spacers....

    Did you have to drill out the rotors to take the bigger knurl size of the longer studs or were the studs the correct size?

    I did not have to drill. I beat the old ones out and fed the new one through the rotor. On the inside of the rotor I stacked an oversized nut as a spacer and then put a lug not on upside down and snugged everything up hand tight and hit it with an impact gun to pull the stud home. Be careful not to over do it. Once the stud is seated STOP or you will run the risk of stripping the threads. If you have a bench press it would be much easier.

    I would think...drilling the hole for the new knurl...would be the way to go. less chance of spinning one out when mounting a rim.

    Do you happen to have the part number for them... from my understanding the stock disc brake studs are like a .5xx knurl and the aftermarket ones are .62x knurl

    I never measured the hole or the knurled diameter. I did strip the threads on one of them and had to redo it. When I knocked it back out the rotor hole was splined because the stud cut it's way in which I thought was a good thing because it virtually eliminates the chance of having it ever want to spin.

    I don't have a part number. I knocked one of the stock ones out, took it with me and matched up a longer one at Napa Auto Parts.

    ARP has the stud you need take one your studs out of your rotor/axle take with you to napa or speed shopthey will fix you up

    I used ARP 100-7722 Expensive but knurl just barely started then I drove them home with a BFH and brass drift. Used locktite assy lock. I cut mine off afterwards using an old nut backwards to have a flat face to guide a 3" cutoff wheel.
