I've had both, the 4's hold the weight a little better when the trunk is full. I'm keeping the 3's on my 73, I like the ride the way it is.

I got my 3 leafs from Espo Springs n things (www.espo.com). The ride height is perfect and the ride is good. Price is good too.

I've got 4 leafs from General Springs at http://www.generalspringkc.com/. Rides very nice and it picked up the back end about an inch...mostly due to the fact the original springs were sagging some. (y)

Good question. I'd like to hear the pros/cons New 3-leafs vs New 4-Leafs. As I will be replacing mine in the future.

Espo 4-leaf. Did raise the back of the car some.

I like the stiffer ride 4 leafs get you. I bought a set from Espo and it raised the back of my car at least 3 inches. After having them dearched a couple of times, I never did get it the way I wanted it. So I bought a set from JC Whitney. They were perfect ride height but had to modify the shackle bushings because the eyelet was bigger diameter than stock. A few other people had this problem and some did not. I recently bought another set from JCW and these came with the correct size eyelet. I haven't installed them yet to check the height,

4-leaf, JC Whitney, I think they were under $150 and shipped within a week. I did not have the eye problem. Bolted right up, and I did not notice any ride height difference. A little firmer ride, but it HAD to be after swapping out 35 year old springs.

I also bought the 3-1/2" shackles and bushings from AutoKrafters, and entire project went together without a hitch.

EDIT--I did mine in March of 2006, so I don't know if the springs in stock changed since then or if they just had a batch of them with the wrong eye size...

4 leaf springs. both times. on a 4 door they did not raise the rear end more than 1/2". i got my first set from jc whitney and they were perfect. my second set was fron general spring ( because whitney was out of stock) and they shipped the wrong spring the first time but after i got the right ones they too fit perfectly.

Old thread I know, why did you go w/ the AutoKrafter shackles instead of the JC Whitney ones?
