i just finished another weekend of autocrossing. it was as fun as always. it was hot! mid 90's. thats hot for san diego. ive got a new app for autocross called harrys lap timer. its really cool. it put telemetry over the video it takes. it can also use the go pro camera and do pic in pic. that part is a little complicated and i didnt do that this weeked. so heres saturdays practice videos. heres sundays champ race videos. im really happy with this new app. its very aforadable and has an incredible amount of features and constant development. i highly recommend it for anybody doing any sort of Motorsports racing.
Im surprised the corner workers let you live after that last run. LOL Thats a neat app. I'll have to give it a shot.
What other types of cars are you competing with? How does your maverick measure up? (against newer cars for example)
heres the result list from last weekend so i fall in to the cam-s rules due to the maverick short wheel base. the mustang II is their for the same reason and the falcon is their because its been superlightened under the 3000 lb minimum for cam-t. if you compare the cam s times to the cam t times, you can see that we are very competitive with them. their is talk of next year the rules being adjusted to allow mavericks in cam t. im sure ill have to add weight to make the 3000 min required for cam t. the guy with the mustang II is worried that his car wont be allowed in due to an even shorter wheel base than a maverick. one of the big factors in competitiveness is the tires. the guys with new tires seem to run about 1 to 2 seconds faster than guys with older tires. ive only had my tires for 4 months now but i have done a lot of runs and they are not nearly as good they were when they were new. i suspect that if i got new tires that i would pic up at least 1 second. they say in autocross its 80% driver 20% car. i fully believe it. when i first started my car was so uncontrollable that i learned some bad hesitations in my driving. once i got the pan hard bar, tires, right sway bars, and alignment, the car was really good. i then found myself hesitating coming out of turns and have to relearn to push it and then learn about how to recover the car when it is loosing control. its much easier to recover now that its set up. im really thinking about replacing my rear tires with some bridgestones. they seem to be the fastest autocross tire right now. my plan is to get a second set of wheels to swap the good tires on the car for the race day and to have the older tires for daily driving and practice days.
