Assuming shield was installed before engine could have been a assembly line slip up...

Wonder if the double VIN stamp could be part of reason?? Possibly the canceled/voided build was supposed to have A/C?? Would be interesting to see if there was a car built with the voided VIN...

It was definitely on the car when I got it, and has the proper amount of patina on it suggest it's been there since the beginning. Our computer hard drive crashed a month ago, and I lost all of my detailed pre-restoration pictures. It's been so long since I removed the old one that I couldn't figure out how it went in the car. I searched here and found out that Craig was the one who had these reproduced for us, but I also found out that there was some debate at the time as to what cars (even non- A/C cars) got this shield. Even Dan Hines weighed in and said that his non-A/C 6cyl Grabber had one.

I'm really not sure why my car would have one if they are supposed to be used on A/C cars only?? Maybe like Tom said, it may have started out as an A/C car, but I would think the shield install would be so far down the line that the double VIN wouldn't have anything to do with it. Who knows??? All I know is that there was one on the car when I got it, so one is going back on it.

I got the correct tower clamps in the mail yesterday. I ran home right after work and got the coolant system all boxed-up and filled. I was able to run the car up and down the road without any major issues. One of the rear Crown Vic calipers is rubbing on the Factory Slots, so I need to grind some more off the caliper and/or get a set of wheel spacers. Baby Steps, I guess. The following videos aren't much to look at, but proof that she does run and drive now. Enjoy!

That has to be rewarding! You can hear the caliper in the second video, ought to be an easy fix.

Hard to believe that it's been September since I last posted anything here...

Tonight, I got the inside of my roof scraped (old glue) and cleaned. Further, I was able to get my roof insulation trimmed and glued in place.

Does anyone have any pictures of the sail panel insulation installed? I bought new ones and can't remember how they go on the car. I lost all of my before pictures when the laptop crashed this summer.

Haven't been in the garage much since Christmas. I spent some time this weekend and got the easiest four fifths of my headliner glued in. I'll likely save my energy all week to tackle the dreaded sail panels next weekend.

I just got a 1971 Maverick in. It is a 200-6, Power Steering, NON AC car. It has this shield. I am starting to think that maybe the 200-6 had the alternator mounted a little lower than the 250-6....and that is why they got them?

I had to enlist the help of my lovely wife and a rubber mallet to get the sail panels covered and headliner glued-in, but it's DONE! The edges are all trimmed and my new dome light assembly is installed. The sun visors are also in. I have a little wrinkle to deal with, but everything else should be good once the rear trim and quarter windows are installed.

Got my carpet, trim and seat belts installed. Once my seats are cleaned up and dropped in, my interior will be DONE!

No issues with the carpet. Other than having it sitting in a box for over three years!
